Brentwood test centre is just around the corner from the B186 and just minutes from the busy A1023, making it accessible for candidates located all over town. Plus, with the London Orbital Motorway in its vicinity, Brentwood is easy to get to for learners in the Essex area and even further afield! You can get to the centre with little to no fuss by using these directions. Please note that the centre does not have a car park, so you’ll be directed by your instructor to park elsewhere.
Practical tests are designed to test whether a learner is truly ready to ditch the L plates and become a fully qualified driver. As a result, the location of test centres are carefully chosen to ensure that examiners will be able to incorporate as wide a range of road types as possible. Those taking the plunge at Brentwood test centre, for example, will be pitted against the frequently congested roads around the town centre, the high-speed A1023 and much more. Though you’ll have taken motorway lessons with your instructor, you won’t be taken on motorways during your test—so you don’t have to worry about the M25!

As a measure to prevent candidates from memorising their entire test route, the DVSA no longer publishes test routes. If you’re dying to know which roads might feature on your practical, however, you can still check out videos of Brentwood test routes on YouTube or download our sample Brentwood driving test routes. You’ll likely get a first-hand experience of these roads during your lessons. Your instructor will have you perfecting your skills on these roads so that you’ll be more than ready to ace your test when the time comes!

Before you start looking for a backup option, we’d like to stress that you shouldn’t take pass rates too seriously. Even if Brentwood had the best pass rates in the UK, it still wouldn’t mean you had a guaranteed pass! Just try your best and see what happens.

Haven’t found the time to look at how the practical test works? You’re in luck: we’ll run through the entire process with you. For starters, you and your instructor will need to get to Brentwood test centre 10 minutes before your test is due to start. Before you leave, make sure you’ve got your provisional licence—you won’t be able to take the test if you don’t have it! Once you leave the test centre’s waiting room with the examiner, the test will follow this format:
Before you know it, you’ll be back at Brentwood test centre ready to hear the examiner’s final verdict. Regardless of the result, the examiner will walk you through any driving test faults that you accumulated with their feedback sheet. They’ll also offer up any additional verbal feedback that they feel you might benefit from, e.g., advising you to take a Pass Plus course. Successful candidates will be able to pose for a cheeky pass photo with a test pass certificate.
Half of the battle when it comes to the practical test is telling yourself that you can do it. Going in with the mentality that you’re going to fail isn’t exactly going to inspire the best performance, is it? If you do end up failing, however, it’s not the end of the world. With the examiner giving you detailed verbal and written feedback, you’ll have the perfect blueprint for improving your driving skills for your next attempt.
