Driving around South London

You can expect a mix of urban and suburban environments when driving in South London. As with all areas of London you can expect to experience varied levels of congestion especially during rush hour. The main roads such as the A23, A24, and South Circular A205 are often busy. There are complex junctions and roundabouts to navigate in the area especially in busy areas like Elephant and Castle.

Main roads are well maintained but you can expect some roads in need of repair in more residential areas. Other potential hazards to be aware of are cyclists and pedestrians. Increased cycling infrastructure means you will often share the road with cyclists and can expect high volumes of pedestrians near schools, parks and shopping areas. Your instructor will help you spot any hazards too.

Learning to drive on the roads near to your test centre will help you to become used to the roads and confident in navigating the area and understanding the complexities in the area.
