By public transport
Before you even think about answering the questions correctly, you need to work out how you’re going to arrive at the test location! For those who live locally, this could be as simple as a quick stroll from your front door. People heading into Redditch from out of town, however, may need to navigate public transport.
If you arrive at Redditch train station, you’ll find that getting to the theory test centre involves a fairly straightforward 8-minute walk. Simply head down Unicorn Hill and along Church Green West. Those taking the bus should get off at the Baptist Church bus stop on Easemore Road. From here it should only take you 4 minutes to reach the test centre on foot.

We know that some learners are chauffeured around by their nearest and dearest. If this is the case, or indeed if you just want to pay for a taxi, let the driver know that the postcode of your destination is B97 4DL. A sat nav should be able to take care of the rest!
A handy tip: the theory test centre sits just off the Redditch Ringway/B4160. Keep an eye out for the Fish Hill turn off once you’re on this road and you’ll be at your test in no time!
Those driving learners to their test may be a little dismayed to find that the Redditch theory test centre does not provide on-site parking. This can be a bit of a pain if the plan was to ditch the car for a couple of hours. Do not fret, though, as there are affordable parking options nearby!
The Kingfisher Shopping Centre car park (B97 4AB) is an 8-minute walk from the test centre and charges a very reasonable £1.50 for 2 hours of parking. The closest option after that is Redditch Station car park (B97 4RB). It’s roughly 13 minutes from your destination, but charges a more pricey £3.20 for the same amount of time.
Pass Rates by Year
The good news is that the pass rates at Redditch theory test centre have been consistently above average. The bad news is that this changed in 2019-20. That being said, these figures don’t really have any bearing on how well you are likely to do if you sit your test here. If we’re really honest, the theory test is the same wherever you happen to take it. Focus more on studying than the statistics!
In preparation for the theory test, it’s really important that you understand what’s expected of you on the day. The theory test is split into two sections: multiple choice questions and a hazard perception test. You must achieve a pass mark on both sections to earn an overall pass!
There are a lot of study aids and revision guides designed to help you pass the theory test. Check out some of our favourites in the list below.
It’s not uncommon for learners to spend the night in a hotel near the test centre before their big day. If you’re not local to the Redditch area, here are some potential options for an overnight stay:
You know where you stand with a Premier Inn. This one is only a 16-minute walk from the test centre and provides all of the essentials for a comfortable overnight stay. On top of the basics, you can also enjoy some extra perks like free parking, free WiFi and an on-site restaurant. With a price tag to suit most budgets, this is a solid option.
Sticking with the big chain names, learners could also opt to pay a visit to this Holiday Inn Express. It’s conveniently located just a 9-minute walk from the test centre. You’re sure to get a good night’s sleep when your room is kitted out with black-out shades, a pillow menu and plush bedding. The icing on the cake is that breakfast is included, so you can head to the buffet and start test day off right!
To experience one of the swankiest offerings Redditch has to offer, you should book a room at Southcrest Manor Hotel. This grand abode offers 63 exquisitely decorated en-suite rooms. Next to the gorgeous on-site restaurant, you’ll also find a spa and a Laura Ashley designed (wit woo!) tea room. Once you’ve enjoyed your stay here, you can hop in a taxi and get to the test centre in just 5 minutes (traffic permitting)!
When the theory test ends, the fun can begin! If you have the time, there’s no need to rush off home once you’ve collected your results. Whether you’re celebrating or commiserating, there are plenty of establishments in Redditch worth a visit. Here are some we recommend:
If you like locally-brewed beer and listening to music while you enjoy a refreshment, then the Black Tap Bar will suit you to a tee. They make their own brews on site and often have DJs and musicians providing a lively soundtrack for your visit. The best news? It’s only a 2-minute walk down the road from the test centre!
Those willing to go a little further down the road (a whopping 5 minutes) will find this Wetherspoons pub that’s also en route to the train station. Pop in for a well-priced pint or relax and enjoy a full-blown meal. Whatever you go for, you’re bound to enjoy a tasty refreshment whilst bagging a bargain!
Maybe the theory test has left you in the mood to party. In that case, there’s only one spot in town to head—The Warwick bar and nightclub. Bring your dancing shoes and a whole lot of stamina because the fun does not take a break here! Expect reggae tunes, delicious cocktails and a lively crowd.
That’s pretty much all you need to know about the Redditch theory test centre! It’s a convenient option for those living on the eastern side of Worcestershire and is easy to access by public transport. All you need to do is make sure you’re prepared to pass the test!
After the theory test comes the practical test. This one is a little more full-on because you’ll actually be taking the wheel and putting what you’ve learned into action in front of a DVSA examiner. Those living in this area can make life easy and book their test at Redditch practical test centre, which is located on Elm Road.
Not everyone manages to pass the theory test first time. In fact, as you can tell from those pass rates, it’s very easy to just miss out on earning a certificate. Try not to be disheartened if this happens to you. The best thing to do is book another test and revise the areas you found a little tricky. The second time is always easier!
