How To Get There

Featherstone test centre is around 10 minutes from the centre of Wolverhampton. It's right next to the ever-bustling Stafford Road and M54, ensuring all learners heading its way can get there easily. If you've not started your lessons yet and want to look around Featherstone test centre, just use these directions and you’ll get there just fine. Please note that the centre doesn't provide parking, so you'll have to park on a nearby road.

A Bit More About Featherstone

Featherstone test centre is surrounded by an even mix of rural roads and urban areas as you progress closer to Wolverhampton. From narrow rural streets to busy A roads like the A4510, there are plenty of challenges for learners looking to take their final steps towards becoming a fully qualified driver. Want to know more about Featherstone in general? Take a look at the resources below...

Featherstone Test Route

Test routes aren’t made public by the DVSA anymore, which means you won’t be able to get your hands on an up-to-date Featherstone test route. This is because the driving test is meant to reflect the unpredictable situations that you might have to face in real-life once you’re a qualified driver, e.g., dealing with emergency vehicles. If you're learning with an ADI, they'll make sure you're not going in blind—introducing you to the roads likely to feature on your practical. To get a better idea of what to expect, take a look at Featherstone test routes on YouTube

Featherstone Test Pass Rates

Due to pass rates being such an area of interest for the public, the DVSA frequently releases pass rates for test centres across the UK. Did you know, for example, that learners in the West Midlands have a 45.1% chance of passing? As for those taking their test at Featherstone test centre, the pass rates for the last four years are below...

2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 2018-19 2019-20
46.5% 45.6% 40.2% 38.3% 38.0%

In all, Featherstone’s pass rates stand close to the region’s pass rate, which isn’t too shabby. Don’t dwell on these numbers too much though—your ability and effort is what will determine the outcome.

What If I Can’t Go To Featherstone?

Featherstone isn’t the only test centre you can take your practical at in the West Midlands. If you need to head elsewhere, Wolverhampton is your closest option.

What To Expect On The Day

Your big day is finally here: the practical test. Your driving lessons have all led up to this final moment—you’ll have your hands on that new licence in no time at all! On the day, all you've got to do is get to Featherstone 10 minutes early and bring your provisional. Your practical will then consist of:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

Once you get back to Featherstone test centre, you’ll be told your result and given a feedback sheet. Here, you’ll be able to look at the areas in which you accumulated faults (if any). If you're successful, you'll get a test pass certificate and have the opportunity to send off for your shiny new licence.

But What If I Fail?

While it’s always disappointing for learners to fail their test, it doesn’t have to mark the end of your driving journey. The feedback sheet is given to candidates for a reason—to help them improve their skills, regardless of whether they passed or not. PassMeFast can get you back on the road ASAP with a fast-track practical. Give us a call on 0333 123 4949 or contact us online, and we can get it sorted for you.
