A Bit More About Alnwick

The location of Alnwick test centre is ideal for practical tests, as it is surrounded by a wide range of traffic and road conditions—allowing examiners to truly test whether or not a learner is truly ready to take to the roads unsupervised.

During your test, you’ll likely stick close to the town centre at first so that your examiner can monitor your clutch control and your ability to meet oncoming traffic whilst manoeuvring around parked vehicles. You’ll then proceed onto nearby A roads like the A1 and A1068 so that they can test your speed and hazard perception skills. At some point, you’ll be guided towards a local car park or residential area to complete a driving test manoeuvre.

  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination
