What To Expect On The Day

Though we can’t tell you what your exact test route will entail, we can peel back the curtain on the actual format of your driving test. Before we get into that, however, we’re going to quickly run through what happens beforehand.

In order to give yourself enough time to park the car and meet your examiner, you’ll need to arrive at Alnwick test centre 10 minutes early. Do not forget to bring your provisional with you, as you won’t be able to take the test without it.

Once you’ve got the pleasantries out of the way, you can finally proceed onto the fun part of things: the driving test! It will follow this basic structure:

• An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
• Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
• Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
