How To Get There

Once you start lessons with a local ADI, they’ll take you around Dumfries test centre to build up your familiarity with the roads likely to show up on your route. If you’re eager to take a look around before this, however, avoid taking a wrong turn by using these simple directions.

A Bit More About Dumfries

The roads around Dumfries test centre are chock full of local businesses, so you’re likely to face heavy foot and road traffic during rush hour. This means that you could end up dealing with a lot of stop-start traffic, which means your clutch control will need to be on point. With the high number of pedestrians out and about in the town centre, you’ll also need to keep making your observations and checking your blindspots on a regular basis.

You might end up demonstrating your manoeuvre in one of the many local car parks in Dumfries, or on the roads close to Summerhill. Eventually, the examiner will guide you onto one of the local A roads. Depending on the route, this means you could end up on the A75 towards Annan, or the A709 towards Lockerbie. Don’t worry if this sounds a bit intimidating. As long as you take lessons with a DVSA-approved instructor, it doesn’t matter what roads you’re on—you’ll be more than prepared for what comes your way!
