Given how crowded the area can get around the Asda car park, it’s unlikely that you’ll demonstrate your manoeuvre here. Instead, the examiner will probably pick out another local car park, or take you to a quieter area like Letham. Eventually, you’ll be guided away from the town centre and pitted against rural roads after taking an exit off the bustling A90.

What To Expect On The Day
After spending hours perfecting the art of clutch control and practising the parallel park manoeuvre until you could perform it blindfolded, you’re finally ready to put your mettle to the test. On the day of your test, you’ve not got much to do in terms of preparation. All you have to do is get to Forfar test centre approximately ten minutes early, with your provisional. You’ll then meet your examiner, sign a form and then start your driving test. Dun, dun, dun!
No matter where you take your test in Britain, it will follow this structure:
- An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
- Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
