A Bit More About Lee on the Solent

Though the area around Lee on the Solent test centre might be mostly residential, you certainly shouldn’t write it off as easy. For starters, you can expect quite a lot of foot traffic—so you’ll need to keep an eye out for any stray pedestrians! You’ll also have to tackle roundabouts like the one off Newgate Lane, before moving towards Fareham and the M27. (Don’t worry though, motorway driving will not feature on your test!) If you want to avoid any surprises on the day of your practical, we’d suggest getting to know the area better. You can do this by practising outside of lessons with family and friends.

Lee on the Solent Test Route

Desperate to know what your exact test route will be? Whilst we’d love to give you the answer, we can’t—the DVSA don’t publish test routes any more. That being said, you can figure out which roads are most likely to crop up on your test by watching videos of Lee on the Solent test routes on YouTube. You should also bear in mind that if you’re learning with a DVSA-approved instructor, they’ll help you get to grips with the local roads anyway. By the time your test rolls on by, you’ll be more than familiar with Lee on the Solent.

Lee on the Solent Test Pass Rates

Desperate to figure out what your chances of passing the practical test are? Well, if we’re looking at it from a general scale, the pass rate for the UK stands at 45.9%. If you’re not entirely impressed, you might find yourself pleasantly surprised by how well learners at Lee on the Solent fare on their big day. With pass rates well above the national average for the UK, who wouldn’t want to take their practical here? Be careful not to get too self-assured, however, you’ve still got to impress the examiner before you get your hands on a full driving licence!

What If I Can’t Go To Lee on the Solent?

If you’re situated in the Hampshire area, then you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to test centres. If Lee on the Solent is no longer an option, or you’re just looking for a backup, your closest alternatives are Portsmouth and Southampton Forest Hills.

What To Expect On The Day

When you first began learning to drive, we’re willing to bet your test date seemed like it was years away. Now, you’re at the end of your lessons and ready to take your test. Crazy, right? Now’s the time to put your skills to the test and get that full driving licence. Before you jet off to the test centre, however, double-check you’ve got your provisional and that you’ve got enough time to get there 10 minutes before your test is due to start.

Your driving test will consist of:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

Whilst the test lasts 40 minutes, it will probably seem like an age when you’re on the receiving end of an examiner’s stare. At the end of your route, you’ll be back at Lee on the Solent test centre. Once the examiner has filled out the feedback sheet, or sent you the feedback email via the driving test app, they’ll give you their final verdict.

But What If I Fail?

Though it might not be of much comfort to hear this, you wouldn’t be the first learner to fail their test. So, we wouldn’t worry about it too much. Instead of measuring yourself up against your friends who passed on their first attempt, you should concentrate on improving your driving and making sure you’re ready to get back behind the wheel for your next try at the practical.
