By public transport
As a (for the time being, anyway) non-driver, there’s a high chance you’ll be taking public transport to your theory test. If this is indeed the case, we have good news! This theory test centre is really simple to get to by train, bus and metro.
Those arriving at Manors train station need only walk 13 minutes to reach their test. Not bad at all! Want to head there by bus instead? Go for it. Just hop off at the Quayside Guildhall bus stop. From there, the test centre would be just a 1-minute walk away.

By car
If someone is giving you a lift to the test centre, make their life easier by sticking NE1 3JA into a sat nav and following the instructions.
Keep in mind that Newcastle is a busy city, so you might want to avoid test times that clash with rush hour. Leave yourself plenty of time to get there, to account for potential traffic or road closures.
Parking
The downside of arriving at your test by car is that the centre itself does not provide parking. As this is a big city, though, you’re sure to find some options nearby! In fact, we can recommend a couple of reasonable options.
The closest parking to the test centre can be found at Painters Heugh car park (NE1 1PG), which is a 2-minute walk away and charges a reasonable £3.60 for 2 hours of parking. The problem is that there are only 9 spaces, so unless you’re arriving very early in the morning, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to nab one of them.
Your best bet, then, is to head to the Dean Street car park (NE1 1PG). There are 257 spaces to be filled and you’ll be charged £3.60 for 2 hours of parking. Oh, and it’s only 3 minutes away from the test centre!
Pass Rates by Year
The pass rates at this test centre are a good couple of points above the national average. It’s also worth noting that learner drivers don’t really need to worry about pass rates. The test will be the same wherever you take it, so focus more on how to get yourself prepared to pass!
2015-16 | 2016-17 | 2017-18 | 2018-19 | 2019-20 | 2020-21 | 2021-22 |

And now for the boring but very important part—studying! It’s very hard to pass the theory test if you don’t revise the material. And by very hard, we mean pretty much impossible. So, make sure you know exactly what to expect on the day and start polishing up your knowledge of road signs, developing hazards and the highway code.

If traditional pubs are more your thing, it’s got to be The Victoria Comet, which sits just opposite Newcastle train station. Real ales, pub grub and relaxed surroundings are all on offer here. Once inside, you’ll be rubbing shoulders with locals and tourists alike, as this is a very popular joint!
