By public transport
This theory test centre is handily situated a quick 10-minute walk from Guildford train station. Arriving from the other side of town? No problem! It also only takes 11 minutes to talk from the theory test centre to London Road station.
If the bus is your public transport of choice, we’d recommend disembarking at the Library bus stop or the Friary bus station. Both are no more than a 5-minute walk from where you’ll be taking the test.
For more detailed information on transport options, including ticket prices and timetables, head to the Guildford Borough Council website or consult the transport section of the Surrey County Council website.
Arriving at the test centre by car? Your route should be fairly straightforward. Just tell whoever’s driving to type GU1 4AW into a sat nav and hit the road! Depending on your direction of travel, it’s likely you’ll end up on either the A3100, A281 or the A25.
As we’ve mentioned, the test centre is right in the middle of town, so it might be best to avoid the area during rush hour. Keep this in mind when selecting a time slot for your test.
One of the best things about this theory test centre is that you can actually park on the street outside it for free. Anyone who’s researched other centres will know that this is a rarity! There are only 49 spaces available, though, so don’t bank on this being an option at all times.
If you arrive and there are no spaces left outside, you do have other options nearby. Leapale Road car park is only 3 minutes from the centre and charges a very reasonable £2.60 for 2 hours of parking.
As you may have noticed, Guildford’s pass rates are quite impressive. Despite taking a small dip recently, the numbers still sit consistently above the national average. While the stats are all very promising, you must remember that this isn’t really an indication of how well you will do if you take your test here. The theory test is the same no matter where you take it. At the end of the day, your chances of success are down to how much work you put in.
If you want to feel confident and knowledgeable on the day of your test, we highly recommend taking the time to study and revise the material. Not sure where to start? There are plenty of guides and revision aids that can help you get test ready. We’ve listed a few of our favourites, below.
