Driving Theory Test Centres in Corby

The town of Corby sits in the north-eastern section of the county of Northamptonshire. It’s an increasingly popular place to reside, it would seem, as Corby boasts the fastest-growing population in England! We’re not sure if this has anything to do with the arrival of the local theory test centre in 2016, but that’s the landmark we’re going to be exploring in this guide!

Join PassMeFast as we provide a complete rundown of everything learners need to know about the Corby theory test centre. We’re covering pass rates, directions, local amenities and much, much more!

Arriving at Corby Theory Test Centre

By public transport

The first thing you’ll notice when searching for this theory test centre is that it’s not exactly in the centre of town. From Corby train station it will take you around 6 minutes to drive to your theory test appointment.

If you have to use public transport to reach the test centre, it’s probably easier to catch a bus. Hop off at Charter Court bus stop and you have just a 1-minute stroll ahead of you to reach your final destination.

For a more detailed breakdown of the transport links serving this area, consult the Northamptonshire County Council website.

By car

If you’re travelling to your theory test by car (driven by someone qualified, we hope!), use a sat nav to get the directions to NN18 8QT

Parking

Getting dropped off and picked up from your theory test is all well and good, as long as the driver doesn’t plan to park their car while you’re sitting the test. You see, the theory test centre does not provide parking spaces for customers. On top of that, the nearest car parks are a good 30+ minutes away.

The nearest parking option is Parkland Gateway, charging just 60p for 2 hours. The bad news is that this car park is a 40-minute walk away from the test centre, despite being the closest option. The bus is probably looking like an attractive alternative now!

Pass Rates by Year

Corby theory test centre is one of the new kids on the block, so there isn’t a wealth of data available when it comes to pass rates. From that which we can access from the last few years, though, the figures tend to sit ever so slightly above the national average.

Please be aware that pass rates don’t really indicate how well you are likely to do here—the theory test will be the same no matter where you take it.

Guides and Tips

Don’t underestimate the difficulty of the theory test! While it’s not something to worry too much about, this exam does require a certain amount of preparation. The questions are not as easy and straightforward as many learners assume. You will need to have a solid understanding of the Highway Code and know how to pass the hazard perception section of the test. Remember, you must earn a pass score on both parts of the test to earn an overall pass!

Thankfully, there are plenty of resources out there that will make studying for the theory test much easier. Check out the list below for some that we think are particularly useful.

Corby is so much more than a town with a theory test centre, you know. There are plenty of great bars, restaurants and pubs to check out too! Once your theory test is done and dusted, why not treat yourself to a visit to a top local establishment? We’ve listed some below.

Shoulder of Mutton

Those that like a pub with a friendly village feel will enjoy a trip to the Shoulder of Mutton. To find it you just need to head a little way away from Corby, into the picturesque village of Weldon. The pub brews its own beer, and serves that alongside a wide range of local ales and wines from around the world. There are also home-cooked meals available, should you be feeling peckish!
