A Bit More About Kings Heath

Kings Heath caters well to driving tests, by offering a wide variety of road conditions and features. From the A435 to quiet residential areas to tricky one-way systems—candidates are sure to be put through their paces on their final step towards becoming a fully qualified driver. If you’d like to know more about Kings Heath in general, you can use these resources:

Kings Heath Test Route

Though you might be disappointed to hear that the DVSA no longer publishes up-to-date routes, you don't have to worry about going into your practical blind. If you watch videos of Kings Heath test routes on YouTube or download our sample Kings Heath driving test routes, you'll get a good idea of what to expect. Of course, if you're taking lessons with a local ADI, they'll introduce you to the roads most likely to feature on your test. By building up your skills on these roads, at different times of the day, you'll be more than prepared for what might come your way on the day of your test.

Kings Heath Test Pass Rates

Pass rates are an object of much fascination with PassMeFast learners, and we can see why. Who wouldn’t want to know how other people are doing on their practicals? The average UK pass rate currently stands at 45.9%. Those in the West Midlands, meanwhile, have marginally slimmer chances at 45.1%. We know that you’re dying to find out how learners have performed at Kings Heath, so we’ve put together these pass rates:

2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 2018-19 2019-20
41.6% 40.9% 41.9% 39.1% 41.9%

Whilst lower than the national average and the regional average, the pass rates at Kings Heath aren’t half bad—they’ve been rather stable in the last five years. You shouldn’t get too preoccupied with pass rates, however. Instead, concentrate on your lessons and feedback from your instructor.

What If I Can’t Go To Kings Heath?

Kings Heath isn’t the only test centre in the West Midlands. If you’d rather go elsewhere, your closest alternatives are Cocks Moors Woods and Shirley.

What To Expect On The Day

Dreading your practical? Ask your instructor to run through a mock test with you. Don’t get too bogged down with nerves—trust that you’ll know what to do when the time comes. On the day itself, you’ll want to get to Kings Heath 10 minutes early, with your provisional. Your test will then proceed with:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

If you’re anything like us, you probably hate waiting for results. Fortunately, you'll get your results as soon as you get back to Kings Heath test centre. Regardless of the outcome, you'll get a feedback sheet which will detail any faults you made. If you're successful, you'll get your hands on a test pass certificate and have the chance to send off for your new licence.

But What If I Fail?

What happens if you fail your test is a common concern amongst learner drivers. While understandable, it’s important not to get too preoccupied with failing, however.
