How To Get There

If you’re taking lessons with a local ADI, it’s best to wait until they decide you’re ready to take to the roads around Irvine test centre. If you simply can’t wait (we love your enthusiasm), or want to take a quick peek beforehand, avoid unnecessary detours by following these directions.

A Bit More About Irvine

You’d better have been paying attention during your lessons in the Irvine area, as your knowledge of the local roads will come in handy during your test. The examiner will use as many road types and challenging traffic conditions as they can during your big day. With the vicinity of A roads like the A71 and A78, it’s practically guaranteed that they’ll show up on your route. If you’re shaky with roundabouts, you’ll want to practise them beforehand—Irvine is surrounded by them, so there’s no way you’ll get away with not having to tackle at least a few during your test.

It won’t all be fast and furious, however. The examiner will want to see how you respond in built up areas, so they might very well guide you towards Kilmarnock so that you can flex your skills with stop-start traffic. You can also expect to be nudged towards a quieter area, like Castlepark, to demonstrate one of the manoeuvres.

Piece of cake!

You don’t want to be late for your test, so make sure you arrive at Irvine ten minutes early. You’ll meet your examiner at the reception, show them your provisional licence and then sign a form.

  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

Improve Your Chances With PassMeFast

Wondering why intensive driving courses are so popular? It’s because they work! With traditional, hourly lessons, learners end up spending most of their time refreshing what they did in the previous lesson, simply because too much time has passed since they were last behind the wheel. Intensive courses, by comparison, enable learners to master driving fundamentals by extending the length of lessons and decreasing the gap between them.

Not convinced yet? PassMeFast guarantees full flexibility with all of our intensive and semi-intensive courses. It doesn’t matter how busy you are, we’ll work with you and your instructor to ensure everything fits around your schedule. We’ll even fast-track your test at Irvine so that you don’t have to deal with long test waiting times!
