How To Get There

Don’t start panicking if you can’t quite figure out where Stranraer test centre is. Your instructor will take you there during your lessons. Of course, if you’d like to have a gander at it before this, you’ll need to use these directions to avoid taking a wrong turn.

A Bit More About Stranraer

The roads around Stranraer test centre are jam packed with local restaurants, shops and businesses, which will make it challenging, especially during rush hour—so be prepared for a lot of stop-start traffic. The close proximity of local schools like Sheuchan Primary School also means that you need to stay alert for any changes in the speed limit.

You’ll likely demonstrate the manoeuvre in the area, as there are plenty of local roads that will allow you to do so without much interruption. It’s highly likely that your route will include a wide range of roundabouts, so if you’re a bit shaky with them, ask your instructor to create a mock test that will allow you to build up your confidence before you take the driving test.

You’ll eventually be guided away from Stranraer on one of the local A roads like the A75 or A77. This will give the examiner a chance to monitor your speed awareness and your ability to change lanes safely. Depending on the route, you could end up in an area like Glenluce or Ballantrae.
