Booking an Intensive Driving Course in Cambridge

Here at PassMeFast, we believe that a good driving school understands that all its learners are unique. That’s why we give you choice every step of the way. This all starts with our range of driving courses. We have options for those who’ve never driven before, those who are part-way through their journey, and those who have failed a test recently and need to work on a few key areas.

Once you’ve decided which is best for you (perhaps by putting our course recommender to use!), we’ll match you up to a driving instructor covering your location. We work with instructors across Cambridgeshire, meaning we’re sure to find one covering your local area. What’s more, we take the hassle out of finding a good driving instructor. That’s because we only work with those who achieve good grades on ADI standards check tests, meaning that you can rest assured that you’re learning alongside an experienced professional.

Having trouble knowing when to change gear? Feeling like you’ll never get the hang of clutch control? Don’t panic: learning in an automatic car could be the solution to your driving woes. We offer automatic courses in this area, meaning you can say goodbye to the gearstick and hello to smooth driving! All you need to do is select an automatic course when you book in.

Practical Test Centres in Cambridge

We’ve spent plenty of time talking about taking driving lessons with us here in the Cambridge area, but you may still be wondering where you’ll be taking the driving test itself. Wonder no longer: the Cambridge Brookmount Court test centre can be found to the north of the city, and its handy location just off the A14 makes it a convenient choice for those from other nearby towns. Alternatives you may wish to consider are Letchworth, Bishop's Stortford and Peterborough.

And did you know almost 9 in 10 people pass their driving test in the first three attempts? That’s why we’ve introduced PassProtect — giving you three attempts for the price of one.

Theory Test Centres in Cambridge

Of course, before you can even book a practical test, there’s a very important hurdle you need to have cleared: the theory test. If you haven’t yet done so, then make yourself an appointment at the local Cambridge theory test centre (or have PassMeFast do it for you!). There are two other options elsewhere in the county: Ely and Peterborough. Meanwhile, just over the border in Essex, you may also want to check out the Harlow test centre.

PassMeTheory is an online theory revision session, where we go over the most difficult areas of the test. 9 out of 10 people said they felt more confident about their test after their session.

Haven't taken your theory test yet?

We can’t stress enough how important the theory test is. While many learners buy into the myth that you need nothing more than common sense to succeed here, the reality is very different. With just 27% getting through the theory on their first try, there really is no such thing as a guaranteed pass! That’s why we advise our learners to put in plenty of revision ahead of their test. To take out the stress of sorting out the appointment itself, add a theory test onto your PassMeFast booking. We’ll then arrange it for you!

Driving Around Cambridge

Wondering where exactly you’ll be driving to during your lessons? Allow us to clear things up for you. If you’re a newcomer, your instructor will start you off on the roads close to your home, giving you time to build up basic driving skills. Once you’ve got a good handling of the car, you’ll progress onto more complex manoeuvres, and will also begin to explore more of the roads that feature on test routes starting from the local Brookmount Court centre.

You’ll soon realise why the DVSA decided to locate its test centre in this part of Cambridge: it’s close to major dual-carriageway A roads, such as the A10 and A14, together with large roundabouts and other challenging junctions. It also lies in close proximity to residential areas, including King’s Hedges and Orchard Park, while being a stone’s throw from nearby countryside. There’s certainly plenty to get your head around here, but if you manage all of that, you’ll be sure to impress your examiner and get your hands on that brand new licence.

FAQ

There's not a specific amount of driving lessons you need to complete by law in the UK. If you wanted to, you could book a driving test having had no driving lessons beforehand — but you're pretty much guaranteed to fail!

The DVSA recommends taking at least 45 hours of professional driving lessons, and 22 hours of private practice. Some people need more or less than this, but it's handy to use the DVSA's recommendation as a guide.
