Arriving at Taunton Theory Test Centre

By public transport

As you can’t drive yet, chances are you’re going to be taking some form of public transport to the theory test centre. Unless you live just down the road (in which case you can probably walk), your transport options will be train or bus.

From Taunton train station, located on Kingston Road, it’s going to take you around 19 minutes to walk to your test appointment. As is often the case, taking the bus could get you a little closer to the test centre entrance. Disembark at the Old Hospital bus stop, and you need only take a 2-minute stroll to get to your destination. Simple!

Want to know more about transport options in Taunton? Go to the Getting Around Taunton section of the Travel Somerset website.

By car

Of course, if you know someone who does have a licence, you could always ask them to take you to your theory test. If this proves successful, let them know that the postcode they’re heading to is TA1 3FA. Tap that information into a sat nav and hit the road!

The road where the test centre is located sits just off the E Reach section of the A38, so it’s likely the directions will lead you here. Once you’re on Victoria Street, look for a large, yellow brick building with a blue entrance signposted Victoria House.

Parking

What we should warn you is that the theory test centre does not provide any onsite parking for visitors. So, if the person driving you to your test needs to leave their car in the area for a couple of hours, they’ll need to find a nearby car park. We did sell this as a comprehensive guide, though, so we’re done the necessary research for you. You’re welcome.

The closest option is going to be Victoria Gate car park (TA1 3HZ). It’s a 5-minute walk from the test centre and charges £2.40 for 2 hours of parking. If, for whatever reason, that doesn’t work for you, there’s the backup option of Duke Street car park (TA1 1SP). This one will be a 14-minute walk from the test centre and charges a slightly more pricey £2.60 for 2 hours of parking.

Pass Rates by Year

We’re no strangers to pass rates here at PassMeFast and let us tell you, it is very rare to see pass rates go up between 2017/18 and 2018/19! Plus, all of the pass rates (even the most recent, where it takes a bit of a dip) below sit above the national average. While this is no doubt a positive sign, don’t put too much weight on it.

Keep in mind that the theory test is basically the same wherever you take it. The only way to ensure a good result is to put the work in and study hard for it. Boring but true!

Guides and Tips

The thing some learners don’t like to hear is that the theory test does require you to do some revision. In fact, if you really want to be in with a chance of passing first time, we recommend you take this test seriously and devise a solid revision plan.

The good news is that you don’t have to do this without help. There are plenty of resources out there that will make studying for the theory test a doddle. We’ve even included some in the list below. Good luck!
