Arriving at Cromer Theory Test Centre

By public transport

Let’s start with how you’re going to get to the test centre. Thankfully, as this is a popular tourist destination, it’s very easy to get around the town of Cromer using public transport.

Thinking about catching a train to your test? No problem! Disembark at Cromer train station and you’ll have a very simple 10-minute walk ahead of you to reach the test centre. To spend even less time on your feet, consider taking the bus instead. Getting off at either the Church or Cliff Avenue bus stop will leave you with a 1-2 minute stroll to get to your test appointment.

For more information regarding public transport options in Cromer, pay a visit to the public transport section of the Norfolk County Council website.

By car

Perhaps you’re being driven to your theory test in Cromer by a friend, relative or taxi driver. Whoever has been nice enough to offer you a lift, let them know that the postcode you’re heading for is NR27 9ES. You can save yourself a lot of time by tapping this into a sat nav and letting that do the directing!

You’ll find Merchants Place Community Centre just opposite where Mount Street meets Church Street. The building is on a corner and is clearly identifiable thanks to its painted grey entrance and a large sign over the door reading Merchants’ Place.

Parking

Let’s get the bad news out of the way: the theory test centre does not provide any parking spaces for visitors. That means if your chauffeur needs to leave their car somewhere while you sit the test, they’ll have to look further afield.

Now to the good news: we’ve done the looking for you! The closest option is going to be the Meadow Road car park (NR27 9EE). It’s a 9-minute walk from the test centre and charges £2.30 for 2 hours. Coming in second is the Cadogan Road car park (NR27 9HT). It also charges £2.30 for 2 hours, but it is a slightly longer 13-minute walk from the test centre.

Pass Rates by Year

The Cromer theory test centre is fairly new on the scene, so we don’t have a lot of stats to pore over here. From what we can gather, things are looking fairly average, which when it comes to theory test pass rates is a good thing! In other words, you have nothing to worry about here.

How much you study for the test has a much bigger impact on your final result!

Guides and Tips

It’s time to get your nerd on! The theory test is not a basic driving quiz. As a result, you are going to have to dedicate some hours to studying for it if you want to be able to pass both sections of the test. Luckily, there are plenty of resources out there that will help you with this process. We’ve included some of our personal favourites in the list below!

Places to Celebrate

When your theory test is complete, you can hopefully let out a sigh of relief and start planning your next moves. In the immediate sense, this might mean grabbing a drink or bite to eat in the local area. Here are some places we recommend:

The Gangway

Thinking you don’t have enough time to stop for a post-theory drink? Well, this place is less than a 1-minute walk away from the test centre! Simply head out of the door and turn right. The Gangway is a lovely little micro pub decorated like a trendy bar. They have a great selection of drinks and snacks, including beer, wine, cocktails and nibble. Give it a go!

The Old Rock Shop Bistro

A little further down the road (roughly 4 minutes on foot) you can find The Old Rock Shop. It’s a friendly quaint little bistro serving up delicious food and a tempting selection of tipples. They claim to make Norfolk’s best sausage rolls, so be sure to sample one of those if you get that chance!

The Wellington Pub and Smokehouse

Head towards the coast to get to this top notch watering hole, known affectionately to the locals as ‘The Welly’. As you can guess from the name, they have their own smokehouse, so the food is very tasty indeed. There’s also a wide selection of drinks available as well as sports on the various TVs. If the weather permits, you can take in some lovely sea views with your refreshments.
