By public transport
Wigan theory test centre is incredibly close to more than one major public transport link. If travelling by train, you’ll find that, from Wigan Wallgate station, it is just a 6-minute walk to the centre.
Perhaps even more conveniently, Wigan’s main bus station (called, simply: Wigan Bus station) is literally steps away from where you take the test. Alternatively, if you’re coming from the opposite direction, simply hop off the bus at the Market Hall stop—it’s only a 3-minute walk to the centre from here. You’ll find more details on Wigan’s transport links via the council’s website.
You could also jump in your car and drive to Wigan theory test centre. Put WN1 1HX into your sat nav and set off! This is the postcode given by the DVSA—though you may actually find that WN1 1JF will get you closer to the centre itself. Either way, look out for a sign saying Pearson Centre on the front of the building. The theory test centre is actually situated on a pedestrian street, so if you’re being dropped off, the closest you can get by car is Wigan bus station. We recommend getting out here.
If you need a parking space, the closest option will be at The Galleries car park. This is just 5 minutes from the centre and will cost a very reasonable £1.90 for 2 hours. There are 625 spots available, so you should be okay finding something. Mona Street car park is the same price and pretty much the same distance from the centre, but only offers 81 spaces—if this is your choice try to get in early! Finally, if you really love a bargain, try out the Wallgate car park. They only charge £1 for 2 hours of parking! Plus, it’s a mere 7-minute walk to your theory test. With only 40 spaces, though, we’d recommend giving yourself plenty of time to find a spot.
As you can see, Wigan’s pass rate experienced a bit of a drop recently. A centre’s pass rate doesn’t necessarily indicate your personal chances of passing there. Remember—everyone across the country takes the same test. How you do is down to the amount of work you put in and how well you know your stuff!
Nothing sets you up to pass a test with flying colours than studying hard. It’s boring, but it’s true. Thankfully, there are plenty of handy study aids that can make the learning process fun and straightforward. Here are a few revision resources that many people find useful:
