Arriving at Kingston upon Thames Theory Test Centre

By public transport

This theory test centre is fairly easy to reach by public transport. Those arriving by rail will find that it’s an 11-minute walk between Kingston train station and the test centre. You also have the option of disembarking at Hampton Wick station (15 minutes away) or Norbiton station (23 minutes away).

To keep the walking to a minimum you could also hop on a bus instead. Those choosing this option should get off at the Kingston Hall Road stop, which is mere metres from the centre itself.

To find out more about Kingston’s transport links, including timetables and travel reports, head over to the Kingston Council website.

By car

Managed to catch a lift or willing to pay for a taxi? Just get whoever’s driving to type KT1 2BQ into their sat nav and follow the directions. The theory test is actually located on the A307, so once you hit this road continue on and you should be fine.

As always, leave yourself plenty of time for the drive, particularly if your test is taking place during peak traffic hours. Turning up even a few minutes late could result in your test being cancelled.

Parking

There’s no parking available outside the theory test centre itself, but you do have some affordable options extremely close by. The Rose car park (KT1 2NB), for example, is a mere minute away and charges £3.20 for 2 hours of parking. Alternatively, you could look for a space in the nearby St James’s car park (KT1 2BA). It’s a 4-minute walk away, but will only set you back £3 for 2 hours of parking.

Pass Rates by Year

The Kingston theory test centre’s pass rates are fairly impressive, consistently climbing above the national average. While this is certainly a point in its favour, be careful not to put too much emphasis on the importance of pass rates. The theory test is the same all over the UK. The result you get is almost 100% down to how well-prepared you are and how you’re feeling on the day. High pass rates speak well of the area, but don’t really reflect how good your results are likely to be.
