Given that the current national average pass rate for the theory test is 47.1%, Islay’s latest figures are very high. Before you run off to book a test here, though, remember that this doesn’t really mean you have a higher chance of passing here than anywhere else. It just so happens that a majority of the people who took their test here (which is actually a pretty small group) did very well.
Only you have the power to increase your chances of passing the theory test, and that’s by studying hard for it.

If you want to pass the theory test, you have to revise for it—it’s as simple as that. Plenty of learners try to skip this task and it doesn’t end well. In fact, it’s a big reason why more than half of people fail on their first attempt.
The theory test can be a tough nut to crack, but it’s certainly not impossible to pass first time. You just need to make sure you know what to expect and how to score the points you need. The test is made up of two parts: a multiple choice section and a hazard perception test. You must pass both parts in order to earn your pass certificate.
