A Bit More About Monmouth

Though you can’t get your hands on your exact Monmouth test route, that’s not to say that it will be a complete mystery. Your route will make use of the road features that you’ve likely driven on a dozen times with your instructor—from high-speed A roads like the A40 to the quiet roads around Osbaston. So, as long as you pay attention during lessons, you should be more than prepared for what will come your way.

What To Expect On The Day

Though it probably seemed impossible at the beginning of your learning journey, you’ve finally mastered the driving fundamentals—from the basics all the way to the advanced skills. All that’s left now is for you to show off your new know-how in the driving test. Piece of cake, huh?

To avoid your test getting cancelled, make sure you get to the Monmouth centre with ten minutes to spare. You will need this extra time to park up and meet your examiner. You’ll then promptly be asked to show them your provisional and sign a form. Once that’s all wrapped up, your test will be underway.

It will follow this basic format:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination
