How To Get There

With the test centre being mere minutes from the centre of Hinckley itself, learners coming from the town centre can take the B590 and, following signs, get to Hinckley test centre with little to no fuss. If you’re heading from further afield, the close proximity of major roads like the A5 and M69 should make your journey a piece of cake. If you’re still a bit shaky on its location, just follow these directions.

A Bit More About Hinckley

Though you wouldn’t think it, a lot of care went into choosing the location of Hinckley’s test centre. After all, a test centre needs to be placed in an area that will give examiners enough variety in road types and features to put a learner’s newfound driving skills to the test. If you’re taking your test here, be prepared to move your way through the quieter residential areas—complete with a few tricky junctions—to major A roads like the A5. Though the centre is in close proximity to the M69, motorways will not feature on your test.

Hinckley Test Route

If you’re preparing for your big day, you’ve probably spent some time trying to get your hands on the Hinckley test route. Unfortunately, the DVSA doesn’t publish them anymore. Don’t worry too much though—we’ve got you covered! You can get a rough idea of what to expect by watching videos of Hinckley test routes on YouTube or by downloading our sample Hinckley driving test routes. If you’re learning with a DVSA-approved instructor, they’ll take you around the local area anyway. So, by the time you take your practical, you’ll likely know the area like the back of your hand.

Hinckley Test Pass Rates

If you’re at all like any of our other learners, you’re probably very interested in finding out how other learners fare in the practical test. You’ve certainly come to the right place, as PassMeFast loves all things stats-related! The national average pass rate for learners in the UK currently stands at 45.9%. If you’re more interested specifically in your chosen test centre, feast your eyes on the table below featuring Hinckley pass rates from the last five years!

2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 2018-19 2019-20
55.0% 44.1% 43.8% 42.5% 45.9%

Whilst pass rates at Hinckley have decreased in the last few years, they’re still not too bad all things considered—they’re not much lower than the national average. Plus, as we like to remind all of our learners, pass rates aren’t the be all and end all. It’s up to you to put in the work and not depend entirely on statistics.

What If I Can’t Go To Hinckley?

Hinckley is one of many test centres available in the Leicestershire area. If you’re looking to head to a different test centre, your closest option is Leicester (Wigston).

What To Expect On The Day

So your test date is finally here. Congratulations! You’ve only got one more hurdle to overcome before you get to drive around unsupervised! Unless you fancy having your test cancelled before it can even begin, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got your provisional licence.

You’ll also want to get to Hinckley test centre around 10 minutes before your test is due to begin. The driving test itself will be pretty straightforward—despite what driving test myths might have told you—following this format:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

Your test route will eventually lead back to Hinckley test centre. After you’ve parked the car, the examiner will finish filling out their feedback sheet. Unless you managed to score zero minors, they’ll walk you through any faults you accumulated. Then, you’ll find out if you’ve officially become a qualified driver or not! If you are successful, you’ll get the perfect pass photo accessory: a test pass certificate!

But What If I Fail?

Whilst it’s certainly upsetting to fail your driving test, it doesn’t have to mark the end of your driving journey. Instead of concentrating on the fact that you failed, you should concentrate on why you failed. Did you forget to do your observations at junctions? Were you going over the speed limit? Whatever your mistakes were, try to work on them with your instructor and, hopefully, you won’t do it again when you go in for another test.

Desperate to get your full licence ASAP? PassMeFast can certainly help. We’ll fast-track your test and get you back on the road in no time at all. Just give us a bell on 0333 123 4949 or contact us online to get the ball rolling.

Improve Your Chances With PassMeFast

Though weekly lessons work for some learners, others struggle to remember half of what they covered in their previous lesson—meaning they spend most of their lesson regurgitating the content of last week. If you’re looking for a more efficient learning process, PassMeFast’s intensive or semi-intensive courses might be the way to go. Our DVSA-approved instructors will fit your lessons around your schedule and have you learn at a pace suited to you. In what seems like no time at all, you’ll have mastered the roads around Hinckley!

If you’re keen to get on the road, don’t waste any more time. Simply head on over to our course prices page to see what’s on offer. If you’re stuck between courses, our handy course recommender tool will help. Once you’re ready to book in, give us a call on 0333 123 4949, or book your course online.
